About Myra Evans

Myra Evans Following a long and successful career as an educator/administrator, Myra has focused her time, energy and talents on watercolor painting. Her other passions also include a life-long love of playing classical music on the piano. She believes that her love of music, along with foreign travel and photography have contributed and enhanced her artistic development.

Myra's art training includes numerous courses at Haliburton School for the Arts, Loyalist College, and the Blue Mt. School of Painting, studying with Jack Reid, Jacques Hebert, Art Cunanan, and Brian Smith. In addition, she has been an active participant in many watercolor workshops in Ontario and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, having the opportunity to work with respected American painters, Sterling Edwards, Frank Webb, and Skip Lawrence.

Myra continues to be an active member in all her art groups, which include: The Toronto Watercolour Society, The Don Valley Group of Artists, Willowdale Group of Artists,the Scarborough Arts Council and the Contemporary Watermedia Forum. Some of the positions she has held in these art groups include chairing the Don Valley Club shows, workshop organizing and mentoring new artists.

Myra's artwork has been shown at the Thera Gallery, Todmorden Mills Gallery, Covent Garden Fine Art Gallery, Praxis Gallery, Galeria 19 - San Miguel de Allende, Mex., the Bluff's Gallery, Bayview Group of Artists annual studio tour( 5 years), North Toronto Community Center, Sunnybrooke Hospital, Rosedale Presbyterian Annual Art Show and the Fairlawn Community Centre Art Walk.

In addition to showing her work, Myra has taught watercolor painting in San Miguel de Allende, and the Artist's Garden Cooperative in Toronto.
Myra's colorful paintings can be found in collections in both Canada and the United States.
